Sleep… something we take for granted until we lose the ability to sleep normally, whether it be problems getting to sleep or staying asleep, or both.

So, where in the body does sleep happen? In the brain, of course.

The Medical Approach

As with most things, the medical approach is… drugs. Most people start with mild over-the-counter preparations, and when that doesn’t work, it’s off to The Doctor. Sleeping pills, in one form or another, have been around for many years. All carry serious side effects. All rob you of normal REM sleep, leading to psychological problems in the long term.

What Does Chiropractic Have to do with the Brain and Sleep?Corte Madera Chiropractor

Chiropractic has everything to do with the brain. It is the brain and the nervous system that chiropractors deal with. Any interference to the proper functioning of the nervous system, Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC), can and will effect brain function, even though VSC is in the spine. Gentle, specific, scientific chiropractic adjustments allow the brain to function more normally. More normal could lead to better sleep, right?
