What's Missing In Your Health Care Now?

"Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth."

 -Dr. Albert Einstein

" I once read that near the end of the war, a ship set sail for the United States with a group of German prisoners of war on board. These were no ordinary prisoners, but members of the high command of the Third Reich. They were being brought to the US for interrogation. Near the end of their voyage, they were given a fine meal, and they began sneering at the Americans for giving them this food. The Americans could not understand why their generosity was regarded with such contempt. The Germans then said that they knew the Americans did not have an abundance of food sufficient to give them such a meal, and that obviously the Americans must be patronizing them because the roles of captor and captive would soon be reversed. The Americans insisted they were wrong, but the Germans wouldn't hear of it. Finally, an American officer said, "All right, you can see for yourself, when we pull into New York harbor tomorrow".

"Never!" they cried. "You will never pull into New York harbor. We have seen pictures of your city in ruins, and you will never let us see this destruction". It turned out that in Berlin, they had been shown photographs of what were supposed to be the bombed ruins of New York City. The Germans openly laughed at the Americans, who insisted that the city had never been bombed.

As promised, the ship approached New York City the next day, and as it pulled into the harbor, the Germans looked at the city with wonder and disbelief. One of the Americans, satisfied that the Germans must finally recognize that they had been victims of misinformation, asked, "Well, what do you think of your Dr. Goebbels now?"

Puzzled by the question, the Germans looked at the American, and one of them asked, "We don't understand. What does Dr. Goebbels have to do with this?"

The American officer replied, in exasperation, "Then why are you all staring at the skyline with such disbelief and amazement?"

Another of the Germans answered, "American ingenuity, that they could rebuild this city so quickly".

The Germans were so well programmed that they couldn't see a truth as large as New York City. Were they stupid? Not at all. They were intelligent people, but they had been so completely programmed that their brains refused to recognize the truth, even though it should have been painfully obvious to them.

I will now ask you a question, meant to get you to think in a new way. Please… do not take offense…

The question? How well-programmed are you about Medicine, about Chiropractic, about other health care issues? How many things do you think you “know,” things that may really just strongly held opinions that you were programmed to have?

Let’s get the issue of safety out of the way first. People assume that Medicine itself is safe, that drugs approved by the FDA are safe and thoroughly and honestly tested, that commonly practiced and accepted surgical procedures are safe and well-researched. Well, depending upon your reference, medical mistakes account for between 180,000 and over a million deaths in America every year. The one that I usually go by is the pronouncement by Dr. David Lawrence, CEO of Kaiser Permanente, who stated a few years ago, in front of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., that medical accidents and mistakes account for 400,000 deaths, making Medicine the third leading cause of death, right after heart disease and cancer. He stated: “If passengers were asked to fly with a commercial airline organized like most health care, they wouldn’t get on the plane.”  Of course, this very real danger to you and your loved ones, is expressed, in dollars and cents, in the huge malpractice rates (between $25,000 and $250,000 a year) that medical doctors pay.

Oh, and the FDA DOES NOT test the drugs that are submitted for approval. They rely on testing, and data from that testing, done by the drug companies that are seeking approval to sell their stuff. Most of these tests are done without scientific integrity, and the data is manipulated further. Often, when a drug is not initially approved, the same data is “presented” in a different way. I think they call it “meta-analysis.” I have a different word for it.

Hey, don’t blame this country. I was in med school in France. The cavalier use of drugs, six to seven at a typical doctor visit, including some that have been outlawed here decades ago, is just insane. The hygiene level in some of the hospitals is abominable. Yes, it is true that when doctors went on strike in France, and in Israel, the death rate went down!

Let’s get down to the personal level. I doubt that there is a person out there who has not been touched with some serious complications from some medical misadventure and/or has lost one or more loved ones in this manner. But, it’s OK because he or she was under medical care, right? Wrong. Wake up, and see through the cultism. See who, and what system, is responsible for what happens to you and your loved ones.

Has anyone lost anyone to chiropractic care? No. If the care isn’t good, nothing happens, or, at worst, you might get a little sore. Despite what you might have “heard,” there is no danger to chiropractic care, especially compared to Medicine.

A real drug? No, but you’ll get the idea: www.panexa.com

Big Pharma? The pharmaceutical industry? They have taken over the profession of Medicine. They half-own the government. All this… I refer to as the Pharmaceutical-Medical-Governmental (PMG) Complex.

Prescription drugs are often the cause of hospital admissions. Here’s a fairly recent study: http://bmj.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/full/bmj;329/7456/15

Two former editors of the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine have, essentially, turned in Big Pharma. Dr. Jeffrey Drazen was featured in the Wall Street Journal on May 26, 2005, “Medical Editor Turns Activist On Drug Trials,” by Rachel Zimmerman and Robert Tomsho. Dr. Marcia Angell wrote an outstanding book, What the Drug Companies Don’t Tell You.

Dr Thomas Szasz, eminent psychiatrist, wrote this intriguing piece, The Therapeutic State: The Rise of the Pharmocracy: http://www.independent.org/pdf/tir/tir_05_4_szasz.pdf

Again, let us return to your own personal observations, if you will dare to observe. These days, just about everyone over 50 is on a variety of blood pressure pills, and statins (for lowering cholesterol), with many on blood thinners like Coumadin, Plavix and “baby aspirin.” All this… to prevent heart attack and stroke. The result? Nothing, except massive side effects.

When I was a kid, pediatricians were hardly known. I never went to one, nor did any of my friends. We only got a few vaccinations. We all got the typical childhood diseases… chicken pox, measles, mumps… and nobody died! Childhood cancer was unknown. Leukemia and juvenile diabetes were rare. Autism didn’t exist. Now, with all the “advances” of modern pediatric medicine, one on 150 kids are autistic. Childhood cancers are common. Learning disabilities are rampant. Juvenile diabetes and juvenile arthritis has become common. Go into any school, and you’ll see kids with those asthma inhalers. Kids as young as two are on psychotropic drugs.

What about all the adults on psychotropic drugs… from Prozac to Cymbalta to Adderall to Wellbutrin to Zoloft. Are they getting better, or are they just getting hooked?

Be honest. Is this… Medicine… working, or failing miserably? Does it make sense to make questionable diagnoses, and cover up the symptoms? Does it make sense to deprive the body of the ability to heal injured joints (with its own inflammatory processes), and then replace them with artificial joints? Does it make sense to declare so many conditions… so many people… lost causes? You know what I mean… “Learn to live with it.” “There’s nothing anyone can do.” “What do you expect? You’re getting old.” What if “They” are wrong?

Hey, I’m not saying that there is no place for Medicine. It’s great for emergency, life-saving care. But for regular health care? No. In fact, it isn’t even health care. It’s disease care.

Look to removing the cause, rather than covering up the symptom. Real Chiropractic is here for you, to remove cause, to allow the body to heal itself. I am here to help you.
