Strange things people say… |

about Chiropractic |
|
1. “I tried Chiropractic, but it didn’t work.” You may have had a less-than-optimal experience in the past, but every practitioner is different. If you went to a bad dentist, you would never abandon the care of your their teeth. Same thing with your car, if you ever had a bad auto mechanic. If you had a poor chiropractic experience, chances are that you weren’t even X-rayed or scanned, and that you never received a specific schedule of care. A couple of adjustments from someone who had no serious intent and no scientific method doesn’t even count as chiropractic care.
2. “No one can help me. My doctor said...” M.D.’s work and think within their own world, without getting to the cause. I cannot possibly count the numbers of people who have come through my doors, through almost three decades, who have been told “You know, no one can do anything about…,” and/or “Learn to live with it.” Yet, they got better here, in my office. I look for cause, Vertebral Subluxation, and I remove it through the chiropractic adjustment. No matter what you have, or think that you have, your body will function better, your Innate Intelligence (click on “The Truth and Innate Intelligence” link) will express itself more fully, when you are under chiropractic care.
3. “I’m too old.” It is Medicine that tells you that there is no hope for getting better. Well, that is true, in their world. However, people of all ages come to me, even into their nineties. Yes, “medically impossible” things, good things happen. And soon, they are doing markedly better than their friends. Some of their friends, who are intelligent enough to see what is in front of their faces, decide that it is time for them to get healthier, too.
4. “My children are too young.” I checked, and adjusted my son, Abraham, right after he was born, at about five minutes old. Why? Because the torsion and pulling of medical childbirth is probably the most violent insult our spines, and therefore, our nervous systems, will ever have. When he was little, and the other kids in his class got sick, Abraham was fine. He is now 25. Got his Ph.D. in theoretical physics in 2007, and is now finishing work as a post-doctoral fellow at the Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago. Next stop for him? The Albert Einstein Institute in Potsdam, Germany. Other kids? I’ve had parents bring their children to me with everything from “failure to thrive” to auto-immune diseases to ADHD to sports injuries to asthma to persistent colds and ear infections. Some are smart enough to bring in their kids, even when they have no obvious problems, so that they will be able to express their Innate Intelligence more fully, thereby developing more towards their genetic potential. Chiropractic is a wondrous thing for kids!
5. “I’m really healthy!” I have actually heard this from a woman who had cancer! My long-deceased father, Fred Harte, had diabetes. His doctor said to him “Don’t worry, Fred. Diabetes is the healthy man’s disease.” Is that why my father died at the age of 53? It isn’t OK to have arthritis, or high blood pressure, or arthritis, or depression, or chronic bad digestion. It isn’t OK for a child to be sick half the time he or she is in school or day care. It isn’t OK to have migraines, or chronic fatigue, or insomnia. (Yes, these things can diminish or even go away, as you get healthier under chiropractic care.) If you have any obvious disease, you are definitely not healthy. Even if you do not have an obvious disease, you are not healthy if you are not healthy if you have Vertebral Subluxation. (Click on “Subluxation” link.)
6. “There’s nothing wrong with my back.” Inside your spine is a major part of your central nervous system, the spinal cord and the spinal nerve roots. What does your nervous system do? It runs everything, every organ, every system, every function. Whether or not your back hurts is immaterial. You want health? You need to be checked for Vertebral Subluxation. Don’t you get their teeth checked? This is... Chiropractic... far more important.
7. “I’m afraid that I will get hurt/paralyzed/have a stroke/die.” Truly ridiculous! Click on the link, “Published Articles,” and go to the article that I wrote on this topic in the SF Chronicle, “Where is the Danger in Chiropractic?” Ever taken an aspirin? That is infinitely more dangerous than going to the worst chiropractor that you can find.
8. “Chiropractors aren’t real doctors.” Really? Chiropractic school, med school, the basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, histology) are the same. Clinical sciences are different because we do different things. M.D.’s utilize drugs and surgery. They diagnose and treat disease. Chiropractors adjust to remove Vertebral Subluxation, to allow your Innate Intelligence to express itself more fully. They (M.D.’s) deal will effect. Chiropractors deal with cause. What makes more sense to you?
9. “I’m already a chiropractic patient.” Well, I must ask you how often you go. If the answer is “when I need it,” this is the lowest level of Chiropractic. There is so much more! Chiropractic is not about pain relief. If that’s all you want, Advil is cheaper. (No, I am not recommending Advil.) Sign up for my next “Chiropractic: The Big Idea” class, get checked, and you will see the difference between “Advil Chiropractic” and real, wellness-oriented, straight Chiropractic.
10. “I can’t afford it.” People who say that they can’t “afford Chiropractic” can usually afford a new bridge and a root canal at the dentist for about $5000, or a tooth implant for $7-8,000. Or braces, for each child, at $5-$6,000 each. Why? Because these things are considered essential, even critical. What “I can’t afford it” really means is “I have no idea how critical Chiropractic is for my health.” “How much does this cost?” Everyone is different! There is no “ballpark.” The great thing about our practice is that, for almost no money, you get the “Chiropractic: The Big Idea” class, history, exam, two neurological scans, X-rays, and the Report of Findings (three visits). At the Report, I go over everything that I found, what it means in your life, exactly how long it will take, and exactly how much it will cost. So, you will know the entire cost up front. No surprises. And, I offer substantial individual and family prepayment discounts!
