Dementias of all sorts have reached epidemic proportions. I maintain that this cannot be simply explained away by the excuse that people are just living longer. Many of us over 50 who do have a memory, can remember having grandparents and great aunts and uncles, and other old folks we knew as we were growing up, who did not have any sort of dementia into their 80’s and 90’s. Towards the very end, they might get a little forgetful, but I knew no one who had a mind that pretty much disintegrated, as in commonplace now. Long ago, when I was a hospital orderly, we had some extremely elderly patients who were called “senile,” but they were still mentally functional. Causation? I blame Medicine. The daily use of statins (cholesterol-lowering) drugs, anti-depressants and anti-psychotics, and the overuse of drugs to lower blood pressure to ridiculous levels, all take their toll on brain function. Annual flu vaccinations, with their neurotoxins, have been shown to dramatically increase the incidence of Alzheimer’s. Now, added to that are shots for shingles and pneumonia. Poison the brain, and bad things will happen. What to do about this awful situation? I recommend two things. This mass medication abuse has got to be stopped, no matter what the lame medical excuses. Secondly, we are talking about the brain… the nervous system. The alleged expert, the neurologist, can diagnose, deliver the bad news, and is then useless. I recommend turning to the outlier in the System, the chiropractor, who is the true expert in the nervous system. We liberate the nervous system, allowing it, along with the rest of the body, to function at a higher level. Is Chiropractic a treatment for any sort of dementia? No. Chiropractic is not a treatment for anything. We correct interference, allowing the body to function better. It’s as simple as that. Does chiropractic care hold out hope for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias? No one can tell. But I can say that the odds are certainly better than with the powerless neurologist.
